These figures are ranges, not promises. Flowering time, harvest date and yield vary depending on growing conditions: the grower, the method and the season's weather. "Mold resistant" means mold tolerant: less prone to mold and slower to be affected. No strain is 100% mold resistant. How we set these numbers →

About Banana Punch

Genetics & strain profile

Banana Punch is bred by Quebec Cannabis Seeds from Banana OG and Purple Punch: an indica-dominant strain with up to 20% THC, about 0.5% CBD and a little CBG, that carries our beginner-friendly badge because it stays short, shrugs off pests and weather, and does not need much. It has one review so far, a five-star one from a Quebec grower whose seeds had sat for two years before he planted them — and grew: “a good strain I am glad to have discovered… around the fourth or fifth week of flower a crazy banana smell appeared (it surprised me how strong), then it faded a little while becoming more berry and floral toward the end”. That is an accurate description of what this strain does in a tent. If you grow it, a review helps the next person. Our seeds are guaranteed.

How Banana Punch grows

It stays short to medium in height with the thick, stocky branching of Purple Punch, which suits a tent and takes well to a single topping and a net. It flowers in 8 to 10 weeks with up to 500 g/m² indoors when it is well looked after — moderate feeding, airflow through the dense buds and humidity under 50% at the end. Outdoors it is typically ready in October with 400 to 500 g per plant given enough sun, and like most indica-leaning plants it stands up well to pests and swings in the weather, which is why it suits a first outdoor season in Quebec; a sheltered spot and a stake by late August are all it asks. Seeds keep: the reviewer’s were two years old and came up. Soak 12 to 24 hours and plant directly in warm, barely damp soil. Expect the banana smell to peak in weeks four and five of flower, then round off.

Taste, aroma and effect

Banana, berry and tropical fruit — a “crazy banana smell” mid-flower that settles into something more berry and floral at harvest — with pine, sweetness and a vanilla note from the Purple Punch side. The effect lifts the mind while relaxing the body: happy, giggly and focused at first, sleepy later, which makes it an evening strain that still works for a film or a conversation, and at up to 20% THC it is a manageable one. For the banana side, see Banana Kush and Strawberry Banana Fast Version; for the purple side, Granddaddy Purple and Purple Kush.
