Cannabis company Canopy Growth appoints Luc Mongeau as CEO

Canadian cannabis company Canopy Growth Corp. has appointed current board member Luc Mongeau as its next CEO, effective January 6, 2025. He replaces David Klein, who announced his retirement as CEO and from the board in August. Klein will remain as a special adviser to the Smith Falls, Ontario-based company until August 31, 2025. Canopy is still looking to fill Klein’s seat on the board.

Mongeau joined Canopy’s board as an observer in early 2023 and became a director in February 2024. He takes the CEO position after serving over two years as president and CEO of eSolutions Furniture in Jamestown, New York. From 2017 to 2022, he was president of Toronto-based Weston Foods, a $2 billion company with over 6,000 employees across 40 facilities. Mongeau also spent more than 14 years at Mars Petcare North America, ending as president of the U.S. division.
