These figures are ranges, not promises. Flowering time, harvest date and yield vary depending on growing conditions: the grower, the method and the season's weather. "Mold resistant" means mold tolerant: less prone to mold and slower to be affected. No strain is 100% mold resistant. How we set these numbers →

About Quebec Black Bud

Genetics & strain profile

Quebec Black Bud is one of our QCS Originals, bred by Quebec Cannabis Seeds by crossing Black Cherry Soda with Huckleberry. It is a balanced 50/50 hybrid with 21 to 26% THC, depending on the growing conditions, and it is best known for its colour: the buds turn a deep purple to near-black late in flower, hence the name. One reviewer who popped five seeds got five dark-purple plants that looked and smelled alike and called it “might be the most stable cultivar I’ve done”. It has 17 reviews averaging 4.8 out of 5 and sits in our beginner-friendly selection — a resilient plant that finishes early, which is exactly what a Canadian garden needs.

How Quebec Black Bud grows

The plants grow to a medium height with a bushy, multi-branch structure and “numerous bud sites”, so a light defoliation to open up airflow pays off. Indoors it flowers in 55 to 60 days with up to 400 to 500 g/m²; a grower at week 7 described very thick, very large buds well spread along the branches. Outdoors it is ready around early October with up to 500 g per plant in optimal conditions — and often more: one Quebec customer harvested 3 lbs dry from a single outdoor plant, and another estimated at least a pound from a 6-foot plant. Its early finish and sturdy structure suit Canada’s shorter, colder season, it clones easily and it is pest resistant. As with any dense purple strain, keep an eye on humidity in the final weeks.

Taste, aroma and effect

The flavour is sweet and fruity with a burst of berry from Black Cherry Soda — “smells like grape heaven”, in one grower’s words. The effect is euphoric and balanced, lifting at first and then easing into the body without pinning you down, which suits afternoons and evenings. If you want the same colour family in an indica, Black Cherry OG goes much heavier on THC; for another early-finishing Quebec original, see Quebec Blue.

5/5 seeds popped, 5/5 have dark purple coloring, and sweet fruity smells. Genetics seem extremely stable, all look and smell very similar. Small sample size but might be the most stable cultivar I've done. Well done on this one.

WOW!!!!
Quebec Black is a GREAT STRAIN. It is very easy to grow and clone. It grows into a bushy multi-branch plant with numerous bud sites. Had to prune some excess leaves to allow air flow. It finishes fast. It is pest resistant but may get some mold if humidity gets too high. The finished product is Amazing!!!!
The color is dark purple/black with the red pistils. The taste is great. Herbal and mild with a little sweet on the finish. The effect is great. Heady but no couch lock. Great daytime smoke. It has become one of my most popular strains.

Haven't smoked it yet but this plant is beautiful! Smells like grapes heaven. Look forward to growing this strain again next year. For an outdoor plant it's performed very well. I likely got at least a pound. The plants height reach 6 foot and almost as round.

End product looks great, gonna try these again and hunt for a keeper. I would recommend doing this strain as hydroponically as possible, it didn't seem to thrive in organic soil, but I think it would do great in a soil less medium with good nutes. Getting more of these purple bastards asap.
