These figures are ranges, not promises. Flowering time, harvest date and yield vary depending on growing conditions: the grower, the method and the season's weather. "Mold resistant" means mold tolerant: less prone to mold and slower to be affected. No strain is 100% mold resistant. How we set these numbers →

About Quebec Black Gold

Genetics & strain profile

Quebec Black Gold is one of our own strains, bred here in Quebec from Original Black Domina, Afghanistan, Canadian, Northern Lights and Hash Plant lines — the heaviest, hashiest indicas we could find, selected for the Canadian outdoors. It is an indica-dominant hybrid with 22% THC and low CBD, easy to grow, in our beginner-friendly selection and one of our best sellers, with 52 reviews averaging 4.3 out of 5 and four public grow diaries. The headline review is from a grower at 49.5° latitude: started indoors April 15, in the ground May 30, harvested October 18, two plants 6 and 7 feet tall giving 2 and 2.5 pounds of dried bud, mould- and pest-free; he has already ordered more. A California grower who had favoured Humboldt seed says his one good plant “absolutely annihilated anything I’ve ever grown”; an indoor grower calls it “one of the best harvests I had in years”, so strong that friends complained. The honest notes: that same indoor grower found it a poor mother plant that dislikes stress; the Californian had one of two seeds grow oddly and die; and plant-to-plant variation in finish time is real.

How Quebec Black Gold grows

The plants reach a medium height indoors — 6 to 7 feet in the ground outdoors — and flower in 60 to 70 days with 600 to 650 g/m² in optimal conditions. It is a vigorous, hungry plant that takes topping and a net well; just avoid heavy stress late in veg. Outdoors it is typically ready between late September and mid-October with 650 to 700 g per plant depending on conditions, and the reviews bear that out: several growers call the posted finish dates “accurate and very helpful”, and growers report real variation from plant to plant — some phenotypes finish in September, others need until mid-October, so start seeds early (mid-April indoors is what the 49.5° grower did). It is tolerant of common pests and mould, though no strain is immune; keep the lower canopy open in a wet fall. Germination reports are good, including freebies, and when a pack has disappointed we have replaced it.

Taste, aroma and effect

Earthy, spicy and hashy — Black Domina and Hash Plant in every pull, with the sweetness of Northern Lights underneath, and a loud plant: “super stinky”, “big smelly bud”. The effect is potent: uplifting at first, then deeply relaxing in the body — an evening indica that newer users should approach in small amounts. For the related strains bred here, see Quebec Early Bud and Quebec Black Bud; for the Northern Lights side, Northern Lights; for another hashy Afghan indica, Mazar.

Grew 2 of these this year outdoors at 49.5 latitude. Started indoors April 15 and transplanted into ground in garden on May 30. Harvested Oct 18. About 6 and 7 feet tall with 2 and 2.5 lbs dried bud respectively. 2 different phenos structurally but similar effects from both. I have already ordered more seeds of this for next year. Mold and pest resistance is really, really good as is structure for rain and wind.

Planted 2 BG seeds. Booth popped but one grew in a bizarre way. It eventually died and I replaced it with a PS seed. The whole process cost me a month. The other BG seed grew into a very- actually beyond very good plant. I had been favoring seed from Humboldt, CA but this plant went beyond those and absolutely annihilated anything I’ve ever grown from this fine seed bank. It should have been a mother plant. Just phenomenal. The strain isn’t all the way stable but after one plant like the one I grew you will not care. Bravo guys- exceptional work on this strain- VERY EXCEPTIONAL when you get a good one. The plant was a GOAT

All of the seeds germinated. I used the (Quebec Canabis Seeds) recommended gemination technique. I did modify the technique a bit by placing the potted seeds outside during the day and bringing them in at night. Since May 22 they are outside in ground. I was originally looking for Black Domina seeds and could not find them as I grew the Black Domina strain a few years ago and it is body numming. Well this strain is said to be a hybrid of Black Domina so I am looking forward to samplingit in the fall.

Thanks kat and dino !
