These figures are ranges, not promises. Flowering time, harvest date and yield vary depending on growing conditions: the grower, the method and the season's weather. "Mold resistant" means mold tolerant: less prone to mold and slower to be affected. No strain is 100% mold resistant. How we set these numbers →
Taste & Aroma Profile

Skunk, burnt rubber and sweet earth — the original pungent profile — on buds reviewers call “very tasty” and “chunky, covered with crystals”.
About Skunk No.1
Genetics & strain profile
Skunk No.1 is the strain that most of today’s Skunks, and a great many other strains, descend from — the 1970s Afghani × Acapulco Gold × Colombian Gold cross that set the standard for stable, vigorous, easy cannabis. Our feminized version is bred by Quebec Cannabis Seeds: mostly sativa, 14 to 16% THC, and very easy to grow, with our beginner-friendly badge and three grower diaries on GrowDiaries. Nine reviews average 4.8 out of 5, and many of them come from freebies that won people over: “planted 2, both popped within 2 days… ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS PLANT, big chunky buds covered with crystals, about 6 feet tall, should get 10 to 12 oz dry”, “tons of bud sites frosted with white trichomes”, and a Quebec grower who averaged 5 ounces per plant. The honest note is the THC: at 14 to 16% this is not a modern 30% strain, and the one 4-star review says only that it is “over 15%” and “solid”. What you get instead is the smell — a Quebec grower loved waking up to “skunk and burnt rubber”, and his colleagues and boss asked whether he had been smoking. Our seeds are guaranteed.
How Skunk No.1 grows
It flowers in 8 to 9 weeks with 350 to 450 g/m² indoors — a 20-inch plant in a 10-gallon bag was heading for a couple of ounces in one grower’s closet, and a 400 W HPS plus LED tent gave “tons of bud sites”. Outdoors it is harvested in mid-October with about 550 g per plant, and it gets big: one freebie seed “became a bush over 8 feet”, another reached 6 feet in southern Ontario and was taken down a week early with no harm done. It is a forgiving plant — organic soil, basic feeding and sun are all it asks — which is why it is the strain we suggest to people growing for the first time, and the parent of our own Skunk crosses. Two things to plan for: space, because an untopped plant in the ground will spread, and smell, because this is the strain that gave skunk its name. Top once in June for a wider, shorter plant, and stake it before the colas fill out.
Taste, aroma and effect
Skunk, burnt rubber and sweet earth — the original pungent profile — on buds reviewers call “very tasty” and “chunky, covered with crystals”. The effect is a cerebral high: clear, happy and talkative at first, then an easy, mild body relaxation, and at 14 to 16% THC it is one of the gentler strains we sell, good for daytime and for people who find modern strains too strong. For our Skunk crosses, see Quebec Super Skunk, Northern Lights x Skunk and Island Sweet Skunk; for an old-school indica of the same era, M 39; for other easy first strains, Northern Lights.

Merci QCS
