Bruce Banner is a cross between Original OG Kush and Strawberry Diesel, bred in Colorado in the early 2010s and named after the Hulk’s mild-mannered alter ego — because, like him, it turns very strong very quickly. Its #3 phenotype made headlines in 2014 when it tested at almost 29% THC. Our feminized Bruce Banner comes from that same lineage and is selected for the same traits: dense, frosted flowers and 25 to 32% THC with under 1% CBD. It is a balanced hybrid that leans slightly sativa in the way it grows and in the first part of its high.

How Bruce Banner grows

We rate Bruce Banner moderate, and most of that rating is about size. The plant stretches hard in the first two weeks of flowering and builds long, strong branches, so top it in veg, use a trellis or a ScrOG net indoors, and leave headroom. Indoors it flowers in 63 to 70 days and yields 550 to 700 g/m² under good light with a standard feeding schedule — it is not a fussy feeder.

Outdoors it is typically ready in October, with up to 800 g per plant in full sun and good soil. It handles Canada’s shorter, cooler season well: growers in Ontario and Quebec describe it as hardy and mould tolerant, and it gives a good yield even in partial shade. Backyard growers on this page report 400 to 450 g per plant, which is a realistic target. The colas get heavy late in flower, so stake or cage the plant before September.

Watch the trichomes rather than the calendar: harvest when most are cloudy with a few amber for the strongest, most relaxing effect. It also clones easily, which makes it a good mother plant.

Taste, aroma and effect

The aroma is sweet strawberry over diesel fuel, with the earthy, piney OG Kush base underneath. The smoke is smoother and sweeter than the smell suggests. The effect comes in two stages: a fast, happy, creative rush from the Strawberry Diesel side, then a long, heavy body relaxation as the OG Kush side settles in. At this potency a small amount goes a long way, so it suits evening use and experienced consumers rather than beginners.
