These figures are ranges, not promises. Flowering time, harvest date and yield vary depending on growing conditions: the grower, the method and the season's weather. "Mold resistant" means mold tolerant: less prone to mold and slower to be affected. No strain is 100% mold resistant. How we set these numbers →
Taste & Aroma Profile
Pungent diesel, the fuel-and-rubber smell the family is named for, with subtle citrus and spice underneath, and a taste that one reviewer says is “exactly like the smell”.
About Diesel
Genetics & strain profile
Diesel is the result of crossing Mexican Sativa with Afghan: the tall, energetic sativa of the old Mexican landraces on the resin and sturdiness of the Afghan mountains, the pairing that started the whole Diesel family. It is 60% sativa, 40% indica with 24% THC, it carries our beginner-friendly badge, and eight reviews average 4.5 out of 5. One grower puts it “in the top three strains I’ve ever grown” and “a super easy plant to cultivate” that “stays nice and short”; another, from 2018, grew it for the beauty and size of the plants and an effect that gave him “lots of energy and the urge to do things”; a third reports all five seeds up in 48 hours. The honest notes: a 2018 reviewer found the growth slow but steady and warns that in flower it smells of diesel “crossed with cat pee”, and one grower in 2019 got nothing from his seeds. That is not the norm, and our seeds are guaranteed — contact us if a pack under-performs and we will replace it.
How Diesel grows
Indoors it flowers in 60 to 70 days with up to 500 g/m², and despite the sativa share the plants stay compact, as several reviewers note — “it doesn’t stretch much, perfect for small spaces”. It likes to be fed, takes topping and a net well, and needs no special care, which is why it carries the beginner badge. Outdoors it is typically ready in mid-October with up to 900 g per plant depending on growing conditions, a window that suits southern Quebec, Ontario and the Maritimes in a normal year; further north, start it early indoors or give it a greenhouse. It is a loud plant in flower: plan for odour control, because the diesel carries well beyond the room.
Taste, aroma and effect
Pungent diesel, the fuel-and-rubber smell the family is named for, with subtle citrus and spice underneath, and a taste that one reviewer says is “exactly like the smell”. The effect is energetic — a clear, motivated head high that reviewers describe as perfect for socializing and getting things done — with little heaviness from the Afghan side, which makes it a daytime strain. At 24% THC it is strong, so start small. For other fuel-forward strains, see SSKUSH, QC Amnesia Gas and Full Gas; for another easy daytime sativa, Strawberry.
