These figures are ranges, not promises. Flowering time, harvest date and yield vary depending on growing conditions: the grower, the method and the season's weather. "Mold resistant" means mold tolerant: less prone to mold and slower to be affected. No strain is 100% mold resistant. How we set these numbers →

About Fat Bastard

Genetics & strain profile

Fat Bastard is one of our QCS Originals, bred by Quebec Cannabis Seeds from Goldmember and Monkey Spunk, and it is the strongest strain we sell: an even 50/50 hybrid with 30 to 38% THC. It is also, by the numbers, one of our best sellers and in our beginner-friendly selection, because for all its potency it is easy to grow. Fourteen reviews average 4.4 out of 5, and the big outdoor plants dominate them: “over 9 feet tall and 8 feet wide, the best I have ever grown”; 1,700 grams from an eastern Ontario garden harvested October 1 to 7; a 6-foot-plus plant in a 90-gallon pot that shrugged off the 2024 Montreal heat; “huge dense buds, coated in sugar”. Two honest notes: a couple of outdoor growers in 2025 had plants flip into flower in late July, far earlier than expected, and suspected autoflower genetics — our seeds are guaranteed, so if yours do that, contact us. And one reviewer found a Purple Dream seed in his pack; he still harvested 1,700 g of Fat Bastard.

How Fat Bastard grows

Indoors Fat Bastard flowers in 8 to 10 weeks with 400 to 600 g/m²; it is a vigorous, hungry plant — “she likes her food”, as one grower put it — that takes topping and a net well, and the buds are dense enough that airflow matters in the last three weeks. Outdoors is where it earns its name: given a big pot or good soil it becomes a 7-to-9-foot tree with a trunk one reviewer compared to a small sapling, and gives 700 to 900 g per plant in optimal conditions, with the 1,700-gram harvest above as proof of what a long season can do. It is typically ready in October — early October in eastern Ontario, mid to late October in Montreal in a reviewer’s garden — so it suits southern Quebec, Ontario and the Maritimes; further north, use a greenhouse. Late in flower the colours are, in one grower’s words, “beautiful”.

Taste, aroma and effect

Fruity and skunky — one reviewer describes a “skunk coffee” aroma, and the buds are rock-hard. The effect starts euphoric and uplifting, with a burst of energy and creativity, then the indica side brings deep relaxation; a Quebec grower noted it is “not a strain for falling asleep” despite its strength. At 30 to 38% THC it is far too strong for a first-timer — start with a very small amount. For the autoflowering version, see Fat Bastard Autoflower; for other very strong strains bred here, Acai Jelly and Biscotti.

By far my favorite strain of all time. The colors in late flower are beautiful. And the skunk coffee aroma is the best. I did have three plants flip to flower outdoors end of July. I'm assuming it might have some auto flower genetics.in the mix. I am looking forward to growing this strain the rest of my life.

I bought a 5 pack of seeds seeds and they were autoflower I believe if not they were awful plants, maybe 5 grams. TheI bought a high THC pack that had 2 seeds fem fat bastard. again. That strain is all messed up, maybe an autoflower. All other seeds of other varities are 100% fine. Just the fat bastard. It was a waste of money, time and space to grow, I would never grow this strain again. I did have high hope...

Of the 5 pack of seeds, 1 was DOA, and one was actually Purple Dream. Not to bore with details, the final yields were: 1700+ gm's FB, and 280 gm's PD. Outdoor grow, eastern Ontario. Plant 1 harvested Oct 1, plant 2 and the PD on the 4th, and the last FB on the 7th. This last plant was over 7 ft and almost as wide. The double stock looked like a small Xmas tree. All seeds started mid April and in the ground mid May.

Now into curing, and the scent profile on both of these strains is awesome. A definite lemon on the FB, and I think cherry on the PD.

If these smoke as nicely as they smell, this will be a treat. Waiting is torture....

This straint did not disappoint. This strain grows to an average height of 4-5 feet with dense, large buds. Easy enough to grow and didn't seem to have any issue of bud rot or mold.
