These figures are ranges, not promises. Flowering time, harvest date and yield vary depending on growing conditions: the grower, the method and the season's weather. "Mold resistant" means mold tolerant: less prone to mold and slower to be affected. No strain is 100% mold resistant. How we set these numbers →

About Jack Herer

Genetics & strain profile

Jack Herer is named after the cannabis activist and author of The Emperor Wears No Clothes, and it has been a Dutch coffee-shop staple since the 1990s. It is a mostly sativa hybrid that combines Original Haze and Red Skunk, with 20% THC, and it is one of our best sellers: 21 reviews averaging 4.7 out of 5 and three public grow diaries. What sets our version apart from most Jack Herer seed is the flowering time — 8 weeks rather than the 10-plus that pure Haze crosses usually need — which is what makes it workable in Canada. One grower harvested in 65 days and called it “a very good producer, frosty all the way to the lowest buds”. Reviewers also ask whether it is 100% sativa: it is not — the Red Skunk side is what keeps it fast and compact.

How Jack Herer grows

Indoors Jack Herer flowers in 8 weeks and gives up to 600 g/m²; the plants are resilient and fill a space quickly — a grower in a 2×2 tent said the canopy “filled almost the entire space” and pulled just over a quarter pound of “very dense and solid” bud. Give it a net or a single topping to keep the sativa-style colas even. Outdoors, expect to harvest around late September to early October, with up to 700 g per plant depending on conditions — early enough for most of Canada. One honest three-star review came from a raised bed where only half the plant produced buds; the grower planned to try it directly in the ground the next year, and we would add: give it full sun from all sides and even watering, because a sativa that is shaded on one side will show it. Germination reports are fast.

Taste, aroma and effect

Haze, pepper and spice — the Original Haze side brings the spicy, incense-like flavour and the cerebral effect, and Red Skunk adds a rounded body and a touch of sweetness. The high is relaxed yet uplifting: clear, creative and sociable without the racy edge of a pure Haze, which is why it has stayed a daytime favourite for thirty years. At 20% THC it is strong enough for experienced users and manageable for newer ones. For a faster, fruitier sativa, see Green Crack; for a full Haze with more lemon, Amnesia Haze.

Put them in a raised garden bed and for some reason only 1/2 of the plant produced buds. I will be trying them again this year, but they will be directly in the ground not in any containers. Hopefully I will get a better result.

Grew this in a 2X2 tent. Canopy filled almost the entire space. Great looking plant and quality of bud was exceptional. Very dense and solid. Ended up getting just over a quarter pound. Not bad for the tent size

How come it is 50 % indica? isn't it supposed to be a 100% sativa?
