These figures are ranges, not promises. Flowering time, harvest date and yield vary depending on growing conditions: the grower, the method and the season's weather. "Mold resistant" means mold tolerant: less prone to mold and slower to be affected. No strain is 100% mold resistant. How we set these numbers →

About Grapefruit

Genetics & strain profile

Grapefruit is a sativa-dominant strain originally developed from a select lineage of sativa genetics, with 18 to 22% THC and an invigorating effect that suits daytime. It has two reviews, and they point in opposite directions. A central Ontario grower raised it outdoors and found “the most amazing grapefruit smell and taste”, huge, very sticky buds and a smooth, sweet smoke. A second buyer, sowing in peat pods, got one seed out of five to sprout — the survivor looked strong, but he felt that was not ideal for $50. That is exactly the situation our guarantee exists for: contact us if seeds do not come up and we will replace them. We would rather you tell us than quietly lose a pack. Our seeds are guaranteed, and a sativa like this repays the effort of a careful start.

How Grapefruit grows

Indoors it flowers in 8 weeks — quick for a sativa — and can give up to 650 g/m²; the plants are described as resilient. Outdoors it is a plant for a good season: expect to harvest around October, with yields that can exceed 650 g per plant depending on conditions, so in Quebec and Ontario start it indoors in April, plant out after the last frost in full sun and keep a cover handy for an early cold snap. Sativa-leaning plants stretch, so top early and use a net. For germination, the peat-pod failure suggests not over-soaking: keep the starter medium damp but not wet, around 22 to 25 °C, and give the seed a few extra days before judging it. Harvest by trichomes, not by the calendar.

Taste, aroma and effect

A bright, zesty citrus aroma like freshly cut grapefruit, with lemon, earthy and musky notes — the Ontario grower’s smell and taste reviews back this up. The effect is a strong, uplifting cerebral high, suited to the morning, afternoon and creative tasks rather than bedtime. For other citrus and sativa-leaning strains, see Lemon OG Kush, Amnesia Haze, Mimosa and Durban Poison.

The most amazing grapefruit smell and taste. Great outdoor grow in central Ontario. Buds were huge and very sticky. Loving the smoke from this strain, smooth and sweet!
