A good seed bank puts its guarantees in writing, ships from where it says it does, and can tell you where its genetics come from. Compare the seven points below before you order. For each one, we give our own answer so you can hold us to it.

7 things to compare between cannabis seed banks
A good seed bank puts its guarantees in writing and can tell you where its genetics come from.

1. The germination guarantee
Look for a stated percentage and a stated remedy. "High germination rates" is not a guarantee.
Our answer: we send replacement seeds if germination is below 80%.
2. The delivery guarantee
Ask what happens if the package never arrives.
Our answer: we guarantee delivery of your order.
3. Where the seeds ship from
Seeds shipped from inside Canada do not cross a border to reach a Canadian address. Check the seed bank's shipping page for the origin, the carrier and the delivery time.
Our answer: we ship from Quebec, usually the same day or within 24 hours of payment, Monday to Friday. Delivery in Canada takes 3 to 7 days, or 2 to 3 days by Express. Orders over $200 ship free.
4. The packaging
Packaging should protect the seeds and say nothing about what is inside.
Our answer: plain, unbranded packaging with no logos and no mention of the contents. No signature is required.
5. Where the genetics come from
Some seed banks breed their own strains. Others resell seeds from several breeders. Both can be fine, but you should be able to tell which you are buying. Look for the parent strains on each product page and for a page that explains the breeding.
Our answer: QCS has bred and selected seeds in Quebec since 2015, led by a grower with more than 35 years of experience. Each product page lists the strain's genetics. Read about our breeding program and our strains bred in Quebec.
6. Whether the strains suit your climate
This matters most for outdoor growers. A strain that finishes in late October in California may never ripen in Quebec. A seed bank that knows the Canadian season will give outdoor harvest dates, not only indoor flowering times.
Our answer: our outdoor seeds are grouped by harvest month. For Canada and other northern climates, a September harvest strain is the best choice.
7. Privacy and support
Read the privacy policy for one sentence: whether your information is sold or shared. Then check that there is a phone number and that someone answers it.
Our answer: we do not sell or share your information with third parties. You can reach us at 514-805-2741, Monday to Friday, 11 AM to 6 PM EST.

Buyer’s tip
Compare the price per seed, not per pack
Pack sizes differ from one seed bank to the next. Divide the price by the number of seeds, then add shipping and check the free-shipping threshold.
Common questions
How do I compare prices between seed banks? Compare the price per seed, not per pack, because pack sizes differ. Most of our packs contain 5 seeds. Add the shipping cost and check the free-shipping threshold.
Is the biggest catalogue the best? Not always. A smaller catalogue that suits your climate is more useful than a large one that does not.
