These figures are ranges, not promises. Flowering time, harvest date and yield vary depending on growing conditions: the grower, the method and the season's weather. "Mold resistant" means mold tolerant: less prone to mold and slower to be affected. No strain is 100% mold resistant. How we set these numbers →

About Big Jack

Genetics & strain profile

Big Jack is one of our QCS Originals, a mostly indica hybrid with 19 to 21% THC that we selected from indica-dominant genetics for a balance of strength, flavour and ease of growing — and above all for yield and speed, which is why it sits in our Featured Strains with a September harvest badge. Seven reviews average 4.3 out of 5. Growers call it an “excellent clone strain” that is “quick to veg”, say it “grows like a weed” with big topped colas and a discreet smell — one scored it “yield 10/10, looks 7/10, buzz 7/10”, which is a fair summary — and one Quebec grower reported a “very impressive harvest”. An Ontario grower running it beside our Quebec Blast noted it flowered about a week earlier with fluffier buds and no mildew or bud rot on either. The honest two-star review is from a grower whose 8-foot plant gave barely two ounces; height without light or feeding gives leaves, not buds, so give it full sun and food.

How Big Jack grows

Indoors Big Jack flowers in 55 to 60 days, which is relatively fast, with up to 800 g/m² with proper care — one of the biggest indoor figures in our catalogue. It roots easily from cuttings and vegs quickly, so it is a natural choice for a perpetual harvest or a sea of green; top it once and net it to even out the heavy colas. The buds are somewhat fluffy rather than rock-hard, which helps them dry evenly and resist rot. Outdoors the plants can grow to 200 to 250 cm — 8 feet for one reviewer — and give up to 700 g each depending on conditions. Aim to harvest in mid to late September, which suits Canada and other northern climates; one Ontario grower expected his to run into mid-October in a cool year. A hungry plant: feed it well and give it full sun, or the yield will disappoint.

Taste, aroma and effect

A sweet, citrusy fragrance dominated by lemon, which gets stronger as the buds are broken apart, with a mild, herbal background — a quiet plant in the grow, as one reviewer noted, which matters for a tent in the house. The high is strong but balanced: clear in the head at first, then relaxing in the body, which makes it an afternoon-into-evening strain. At 19 to 21% THC it is moderate and manageable for newer users. For other fast, heavy-yielding strains bred here, see Crush Kush and Quebec Blast; for a lemon-forward strain with more lift, Lemon OG Kush.

First time growing it but so far so good. I found it was about a week to show flowering than the Quebec blast. No issues yet with mildew or bud rot on either big Jack or Quebec blast. Buds seem a bit more fluffy than Quebec blast. I’m guessing to more weeks for blast and 3 for big Jack so mid October to end weather permitting

Very good customer service had an issue with my germination which was my own fault they don't recommend the paper towel method, I had Oneonta of my 5 that did pop is coming along nice but not as quick as my 1 M39. looking for a solid outdoor for northern Ontario. They also told me I would be getting new seeds, very kind. Thank you QCS! You are my go to from here on out.
