These figures are ranges, not promises. Flowering time, harvest date and yield vary depending on growing conditions: the grower, the method and the season's weather. "Mold resistant" means mold tolerant: less prone to mold and slower to be affected. No strain is 100% mold resistant. How we set these numbers →

About Black Runtz

Genetics & strain profile

Black Runtz is bred by Quebec Cannabis Seeds from Black Diamond Sherbet and Runtz: a 70% indica, 30% sativa hybrid that tests at 30 to 32% THC on its best phenotypes, which makes it one of the strongest strains we offer, and one of the most colourful. It carries our bred by QCS and beginner-friendly badges, and 10 reviews average 4.9 out of 5: “never seen such colour in this type — and the strength, wow”, “she clones extremely well and the trichomes are mind-boggling”, “a 10-foot monster”, and a grower who pulled 17 ounces from two trained plants in 5-gallon pails by the third week of September. The one 4-star review is detailed and worth reading: a grower who ran two crops found some phenotypes test well below 32% (still “very good bud”), says the plants are touchy, and had both crops throw bananas mid to late in flower. That hermaphrodite tendency shows up under stress, so this is a strain to keep stable; see the growing section. Our seeds are guaranteed.

How Black Runtz grows

The plants are compact and sturdy indoors, a good fit for a tent, and flower in 8 to 9 weeks with up to 450 g/m²; it clones easily and the colour — deep purples to near-black — comes in the last weeks. Outdoors it is typically ready from late September to early October with up to 550 g per plant, and it can get big in the ground: one grower had a 10-foot plant, another harvested in the third week of September. A Quebec grower’s outdoor plant ran past October 20 with many smaller heads and brown pistils rather than the showy buds of the photo — no mould, no bud rot, no stress — so expect finish and bud shape to vary by phenotype and season. The thing to manage is stress: because some plants will throw bananas, keep the light schedule tight with no leaks, avoid big temperature swings and heavy training late in flower, feed steadily, and check the lower buds for male flowers from week five on. Keep the humidity down late in flower to prevent mould and mildew on the dense buds.

Taste, aroma and effect

Sweet and fruity from the Runtz side, with an earthy, spicy aroma from the Sherbet — though one grower found the taste “neutral” and warns that “earthy” in a description does not mean it tastes like dirt. The effect is deeply relaxing with a euphoric, mood-lifting start, and reviewers describe it as “very strong but easy on the anxiety end”; at 30% THC it is an evening strain, and newer users should start with very little. For the family, see Runtz, White Runtz, Blackberry Runtz and Mint Runtz; for the Sherbet side, Sherbet.

The bud these plants produce is very good, most of the time. I have had phenotypes fall far below the 32% thc range, although still very good bud. This plant also has a strong tendency to herm. I ran 2 different crops and both threw bananas mid-late in the grow. They are also touchy plants to grow. But all in all the bud is still fantastic. Will most likely try different strains in the future due to its touchy tendency.

I just grew a 10 foot monster so far this year! Thanks to QCS and their great genetics. This is my second year growing Quebec white and three other plants. All have performed as advertised. I’m definitely going back to them for some new seeds for next year. Thanks to QCS, and a great growing year and I’m totally happy!

Growing outdoors The plant lasts over 9 weeks from flowering - it's October 20 and the plant isn't quite ready yet. The genetics are very resistant as such, big plants, many heads not very big. No mold or bud rot. No stress sign. Description says: visually attractive head they are normal with brown pistillas .

Hey, just popped a black runtz, so far so good, the two different potential THC percentages, is that from using CO2 enrichment?
Reply from QCS Seeds21/01/2025
Thanks for that. I had not noticed. That was a mistake on our part. the correct is THC 30% and 32%

Started growing this strain and came back to this site to read the description again. It now says that black runtz ranges from 30%-32% thc at the top and at the bottom says it's 21%-24%.

Why is the information conflicting? Just an error?

Germinated 3, one was a runt.
Other 2 in 5 gallon pails "trained" yielded 17 ounces of kick ass bud by 3rd week in September.
Very strong but easy on the anxiety end.
Taste is neutral I'd say. When u see "earthy" in description one could assume it taste like dirt.

I ordered these seeds on Sunday, and by Thursday, all of them had sprouted and were already planted. I will finish the review after harvest time. But so far very happy.
