Blue Dream came out of Santa Cruz, California, in the early 2000s, a cross of Blueberry and Haze that became the best-selling strain in the legal US market for most of the 2010s. Its secret is balance: the Blueberry side gives sweet fruit and a relaxed body, the Haze side gives energy and a clear head. Our Blue Dream feminized seeds are bred by Quebec Cannabis Seeds from that lineage: a sativa-dominant hybrid with 20% THC and low CBD, selected for vigour, resistance and an early finish that suits a Canadian season.

Strain names are not protected, so Blue Dream from another seed bank is a different cut. Everything on this page describes our own seeds.

How Blue Dream grows

We rate Blue Dream moderate, mostly because of its size. Indoors it flowers in 7 to 9 weeks and yields 500 to 600 g/m² with good light. Top it early and use a net: it stretches and takes well to topping. A Quebec grower on this page notes it is sensitive to nutrients in veg but hungry in flower, so start light and feed more after the flip.

Outdoors it is one of the most rewarding plants we sell. It is typically ready in late September to early October, very problem resistant, and capable of far more than our conservative figures: growers report plants of 2 to 5 metres, “tops everywhere” and harvests measured in pounds. Stake or cage it early, because the heavy colas bend branches in wind and rain. In a humid season watch for powdery mildew; growers found it resistant to bud rot.

Taste, aroma and effect

The aroma is sweet blueberry first, with earthy and herbal Haze notes underneath; growers describe the plants as very blueberry and fruity in flower. The smoke is smooth and sweet with a light berry finish. The effect is euphoric, happy and clear-headed with a relaxed body — a daytime sativa high without the anxiety some sativas bring. Customers call it an excellent daytime strain that keeps you focused. At 20% THC it suits experienced users and beginners alike.
