Growing outdoors near Montréal
The typical last spring frost in Montréal is around May 3 and the typical first fall frost is around October 7, which leaves about 157 frost-free days (roughly 22 weeks). These are averages: frost can come earlier or later, and your garden or balcony may be warmer or colder than the city figure.
Montréal summers are warm and humid and the first frost usually comes in early October. A common rule of thumb in Quebec gardening is to wait until the late-May holiday weekend before planting out tender plants, then choose strains that finish before the damp autumn nights.
Autoflowers listed at about 10 weeks from seed to harvest fit this window with about 12 weeks to spare. A good starting point is to plant out in mid-to-late May, after the last frost. Always check each strain page for its listed time to harvest. Read the full reasoning in our guide to autoflower seeds for the North American climate and the short-season outdoor guide.
