Super Silver Haze is the Haze that won three Cannabis Cups in a row and still sets the standard for a long, clear, energetic sativa high: a Skunk × Northern Lights × Haze cross with about 19% THC, a 10 to 11 week flowering time and enormous yields — up to 800 g/m² indoors and up to 1,500 g per plant outdoors if your season is long enough. This Super Silver Haze strain review covers its genetics, THC, effects, flowering time and yield, and is honest about the one thing that matters most for Canadian growers: it finishes late.

What is Super Silver Haze?
Super Silver Haze was built in Amsterdam in the 1990s by crossing Skunk, Northern Lights and Haze — the idea was to keep the soaring Haze high while using Skunk and Northern Lights to shorten the flowering time and bulk up the buds. It worked: Super Silver Haze won the High Times Cannabis Cup three years running (1997, 1998 and 1999) and became the reference sativa of its era.
Our Super Silver Haze feminized seeds are our own cut of that lineage, selected for the classic cerebral effect, heavy resin and the biggest yields in our sativa range. Strain names are not protected, so SSH from another seed bank is a different plant; everything on this page describes ours. If you like the idea but need something that finishes earlier, Amnesia Haze is worth comparing.
Is Super Silver Haze indica or sativa?
Super Silver Haze is sativa-dominant and it behaves like a Haze: tall, long-branched, slow to finish and happiest with lots of light. The Northern Lights side keeps the buds denser than a pure Haze and shaves a few weeks off the flowering time, but this is still a plant that wants 10 to 11 weeks of bloom. The high is pure sativa — cerebral, energetic and long-lasting. For an energetic sativa that finishes sooner in a Canadian season, Sour Diesel is the practical alternative.
Smell and flavour: earthy citrus and spice with a skunky edge
The aroma is earthy, with citrus and spice from the Haze side and a pungent skunk note from the Skunk parent that gets loud late in flower — plan on a carbon filter indoors. The smoke is smooth and spicy with a lemony, slightly sweet finish that lingers. It is a classic “old Amsterdam” flavour rather than a modern dessert profile.
Appearance: long silver colas covered in resin
The name comes from the look: long, tapering sativa colas that turn silver-white under a thick coat of trichomes in the last weeks of flower. Buds are lighter and more elongated than an indica’s, pale green with orange pistils. The plants are tall — outdoors in a good season they can reach well over two metres — and the main colas get long enough to need support.
Super Silver Haze effects
The effect is strong, cerebral and long-lasting: a burst of energy and creativity with a lifted mood, and very little body heaviness. It is a daytime and social strain — good for work, music and conversation — and it can feel racy for anxious users, so start small. Effects vary with the person, the dose and how the plant was grown.
How strong is Super Silver Haze? THC content
Super Silver Haze delivers about 19% THC (19.11% in our testing) with low CBD, depending on the growing conditions, the phenotype and the harvest window. The high feels stronger than the number because of the fast, clear sativa onset. For more raw potency in a sativa-leaning plant, see Bruce Banner.
Growing Super Silver Haze: flowering time and yield
Super Silver Haze is rated moderate, and the difficulty is patience rather than fussiness. Indoors it flowers in 10 to 11 weeks and rewards the wait with up to 800 g/m² under strong light; top early, flip early (it stretches a lot) and keep humidity in check in the last three weeks, because the long colas can hold moisture and are prone to mould and mildew. Outdoors it is ready around late October with up to 1,500 g per plant — but only where fall stays mild and dry. Those figures are ranges, not promises. In most of Quebec and the Maritimes, late October is too late for an outdoor Haze; it is a greenhouse or indoor strain here, or an outdoor gamble in southern Ontario and British Columbia. If you do grow it outside, start plants early indoors, give them full sun, and be ready to harvest a little early if frost or weeks of rain are forecast.
Indoor is measured per m², outdoor per plant — the two figures aren’t directly comparable. Real grower results vary widely.
What growers report
We would rather give you the whole picture: Super Silver Haze does not yet have customer reviews on our product page, so here is what to expect based on the strain itself and on how similar Hazes perform for our growers.
- Height and stretch: like our other sativas, expect a tall plant that doubles or triples in height after the flip. Growers of Sour Diesel and Blue Dream on our site report plants of 8 feet and more outdoors; Super Silver Haze grows the same way.
- Timing: 10 to 11 weeks of flowering is long. Indoor growers should plan for a 4-month cycle from seed; outdoor growers in cooler regions should treat it as a greenhouse plant.
- Mould: long, dense colas finishing in a wet October are the main risk. Airflow, spacing and a dry harvest window matter more than nutrients.
- Yield: when it gets the time it needs, SSH is one of the heaviest yielders we sell — up to 800 g/m² indoors is a realistic ceiling for an experienced grower with good light.

Is Super Silver Haze right for you?
If you want the classic Amsterdam Haze experience — a long, clear, energetic high and very heavy yields — and you have the patience and the light to finish a 10 to 11 week sativa, Super Silver Haze is the one. If your outdoor season ends in September, grow it indoors or in a greenhouse, or choose an earlier sativa from our sativa-dominant range.
Super Silver Haze: frequently asked questions
How long does Super Silver Haze take to flower?
10 to 11 weeks (70 to 77 days) indoors. Outdoors it is ready around late October, which is too late for most of Quebec and the Maritimes; treat it as an indoor or greenhouse strain there.
How much does Super Silver Haze yield?
Up to 800 g/m² indoors and up to 1,500 g per plant outdoors under ideal conditions with a long, dry fall. These are best-case ceilings; most growers will see less.
How strong is Super Silver Haze?
About 19% THC (19.11% in our testing) with low CBD. The clear, fast sativa onset makes it feel stronger than the number suggests.

Strong, cerebral and long-lasting: energy, creativity and a lifted mood with little body heaviness. A daytime strain that can feel racy for anxious users. Effects vary with the person and the dose.
Is Super Silver Haze easy to grow?
Rated moderate. It is not fussy, but it needs patience (10 to 11 weeks of flower), height, strong light and humidity control late in bloom to avoid mould.
What are the genetics of Super Silver Haze?
